Many of us envision forever when we get into new relationships, but that is not always the case. Like us, our favourite ZAlebs have had their fair share of struggles with love, sometimes getting in relationships that end before they even register in our minds.
These are some of the shortest-lived ZAleb relationships Mzansi has ever seen.
Sbahle Mpisane and Itu Khune
Fitness Bunny Sbahle Mpisane and footballer Itumeleng Khune rocked the country when they went public with their relationship, but it seems they were not meant to last. After being on and off and rocky for some time, they broke up under the most unique circumstances.
Sbahle had an accident which rendered her wheelchair-bound for some time, and also caused amnesia. While she was ill, she forgot Khune and how she had fallen in love with him. As she later detailed, despite him being very supportive throughout her healing process, the connection was lost when she lost vital memories of their relationship.
According to reports, they could not make it work because he wanted a family, but Sbahle wasn’t ready for that. He went on to get his heart’s desires, and according to Sbahle, they are still civil with each other and she wishes him well, even though she is now ready for a family of her own.
Amanda du Pont and Cassper Nyovest
Cassper and Amanda surprised Mzansi when the actress laid a kiss on Cass on stage in 2014. Until that point, fans were unaware that they were together.
However, the relationship did not last long. As the rapper later revealed in his song ‘Super Ex’, which was about his relationship with fellow rapper Boity Thulo, part of the reason they broke up was because Amanda cheated on him.
The news of their breakup was a huge blow to their fans, who spent months hoping that they would get back together at some point. Unfortunately, that point never came, and Amanda is now happily married, so it will probably never happen. It is all for the best, though, as they both seem to have blossomed into great people away from each other.
Kenny Kunene and Sophie Ndaba
Generations star Sophie Ndaba had one of the most high profile and dramatic relationships with businessman Kenny Kunene, even though it lasted only a short time.
The two had an affair while Kenny was married. According to Sophie, she did not know he was married when they got into their relationship, and she dumped him as soon as she found out.
The businessman made headlines when he said he would spill all the beans on his affair with Sophie in his book. He wrote that they broke up because she was toxic. Whichever one of them was telling the truth remains a secret between them, as they had vastly conflicting sides of the same story.
Kelly Khumalo and Bhaka Nzama
The Voice of Africa Kelly Khumalo had a brief public fling with the Durban healer Zamokwakhe ‘Bhaka’ Nzama.
The relationship was allegedly an affair, as the Sangoma was in another relationship at the time. It was also only a year after the death of Kelly’s baby daddy Senzo Meyiwa, more reason why the relationship was controversial for much of Mzansi.
Their relationship broke down when Kelly allegedly accidentally poked Bhaka in the eye with her nail, after he allegedly tried to force himself on her. Bhaka’s story was that she did it on purpose because he refused to leave his other woman for her, and the truth has remained with them since.

Black Coffee and Enhle Mbali
This was a rollercoaster relationship, with all manner of accusations from physical violence to infidelity. It is no wonder that Black Coffee and Enhle Mbali were only married for a short time.
For a long time after they got separated, the two were locked in a battle over money, with Black Coffee even clapping back and telling Enhle to take care of her own bills. There were rumours that Enhle went broke, but she shut those down quickly.
The two were recently rumoured to have got back together, but Enhle promptly dispelled the claims. She categorically stated that she was not seeing anyone, and that she believed somebody was getting paid to lie about their reconciliation.

If there is anything we can learn from this list, it’s that relationships are not any easier for the rich and famous. But they still get back out there, and some of them manage to find new, healthy relationships. That is your encouragement to take that leap of faith and take a chance on a new bae. It may end in tears or in a beautiful fairy tale, but you’ll never know unless you try.
