He may come across as a heartless man in his role as Banzi on Isithembiso, but Hamilton Dlamini is far from that in real life.

The actor recently opened up about his family life and how much of a valuable role his wife, has played in his success in becoming an actor.

In an interview with Drum magazine, Hamilton spoke quite fondly of his family.

The actor mentioned that he has been married for 23-years to his wife Martha who is a nutritionist. According to the interview with the publication, the couple met in a lift of a flat they lived in, in Hillbrow.

When he first saw her he was wearing an overall, bucket hat and sneakers and merely greeted her as he thought he would not measure up to her standards.

" I just told her she was beautiful and that was that.."

However, a few weeks later and now dressed in a snazzy suit, Hamilton eventually plucked up the courage to ask his wife out. Unfortunately, at the time, she was not available.

"I'd come from a corporate performance and I looked good but when I asked her out she said she already had a boyfriend. "

However, after a few weeks, the said boyfriend was out of the picture and Hamilton took a second chance at asking her out to which she obliged.

"I remember watching her cook pasta in my flat while listening to Youssou N'Dour and thinking, 'She'll one day be my wife.'"

Fast forward to twenty-three years later and the married couple have three kids and a happy home.

The actor attributes most of his success to his wife who has helped him tremendously along the way.

"My wife helped me avoid a lot of what actors go through - like alcoholism, drugs and adultery. I have a stable home - I go out and have a drink, but I know I have a family who loves and supports me. My wife tolerated my struggles and even when I didn't have a cent she supported me," said Hamilton.
