Lucas was convicted of the murder and he was scheduled to be sentenced on Monday, but his sentence has been postponed. Sibusiso was fatally stabbed by the cellphone thief in 2019 in Pretoria and his death sent shockwaves across the country.

Lucas was found guilty of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and contravening the immigration act. The proceedings have been postponed until the 20th of April due to the unavailability of a Swahili interpreter in the Pretoria High Court on Monday.

His passing and the slow progress in his sentencing have tormented his family. The family has had to endure pain since his brutal murder and they are seeking justice. According to Daily Sun, the family spokesperson Benjamin explained that the delays prevented the family from mourning his death.

In addition to losing Sibusiso's sister last year, his mother is also ill. He said they fear they might lose her as she is not doing well.

Another family demanding  justice for their son is Thapelo Maropefela's family. According to Daily Sun Thapelo was brutally murdered by by three security guards in Maboneng, Johannesburg. The guards allegedly assaulted him by using 'heavy objects' to cause grievous bodily harm to the victim.

“He was brutally assaulted by security guards in Maboneng. They bludgeoned him causing grievous bodily harm. He died from the wounds inflicted on him. We will miss his infectious smile and calmness in difficult situations," said his uncle.

His mom recently celebrated his birthday and penned a heartfelt message to him. "25 years ago you brought happiness I never imagined possible into our lives. Today 8 grown Zimbabwean men gave me the deepest pain I ever thought possible.  They hurt my child so bad! I thank God almighty for giving me these short years with you. I can’t say rest because you had so much energy! So much zeal for life! I cant! I just can’t! God will bring justice to all even though my child will never be back,"
