There’s a very popular Indian saying that goes like 'A thief is a thief, whether he steals a diamond or a cucumber'.

There are various reasons that can lead people to steal. Some individuals steal because they are hungry, whilst others steal because they are broke and have nothing to lose or simply as a result of drug and alcohol addiction. On the other hand there are people who steal because they can and they enjoy the idea of taking something that does not rightfully belong to them.

Celebrity status, a fat bank account and power can change a person in an instant. However, a few of our favorite Kenyan celebrities, politicians, and influential people, have shown us that sometimes these things do not truly change a person. Their actions have proven that the more things change the more they stay the same.

It does not shock us that some, though not all, of our favorite celebrities and personalities have a tendency to steal. What does shock us is what these celebrities decide to steal.

Here is a list of our favorite Kenyan celebrities who double up as thieves.

At the top of the list is the controversial socialite and media personality Amber Ray. Not a week goes by without the bubbly Amber making news headlines for one reason or another. One of our favorite times was when Ms. Ray dominated headlines after she decided to 'steal' someone else's husband. Talk about MESSY. Amber ignored the fact that her boyfriend, prominent businessman Jimal Roho Safi, was a married man when they began dating. Their controversial love affair caused such a stir and even led to rumors of Amber becoming Jamal’s second wife. What a dramatic love triangle!

Popular musician Bahati also secured his spot on the list of celebrity thieves. Just last year, the gospel singer was accused of stealing his hit song Dear Ex from a fellow up and coming artist who goes by the name Kay S. Fans first heard about this thievery from Edgar Obare, a local Kenyan gossip blogger. Edgar come through with receipts from Kay S that detailed how Bahati had stolen the music. The receipts also explained how Bahati was trying to cover up and destroy all evidence that linked him to the crime. The drama was short lived as Kay S suddenly disappeared following his accusations but this just left fans with even more question.

Last but definitely not least on the list we have media personality Mwalimu Rachel. The radio host has been entangled in quite a number of shady activities that have left her on the wrong side of the law. The personality was accused of violently attacking a man, and robbing him of goods worth KSH. 103,000/- which is roughly about R14,279. A plot twist no one expected! Following the incident, 2020 Rachel was due to have her day in court however things died down and we are yet to hear anything on that case.

Do you know of any other celebs who have sticky fingers?
