With new lockdown restrictions in place and in our ongoing battle to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus, we caught up with our favourite ZAlebs for some advice on how to stay positive, stay safe, and do your part.

Mental health is important now as we know how to stop the spread of the disease, avoid social large indoor social gatherings, wear a mask properly, and stay at home. So how can you stay upbeat?

This is where you guys also come in, take inspo from Lelo B and Khaya Mthethwa and work with us and The Solidarity Fund to help stop the spread of Coronavirus. Follow us on social media and share your top tips for staying positive over the next few weeks to be in with a chance to win R350 data. We'll also share the best tips in a ZAlebs article.

So what are you waiting for?
Lelo B

Lelo how are you planning to get through the next few weeks? Coronavirus is with us for a while longer so how are you going to stay safe and keep positive?
Indeed the virus is not going away anytime soon and that is a reality I have accepted because I think once we accept it, it’s easier to deal with all the changes it requires us to make in our lives. It’s very difficult to remain positive when we are losing people to the virus and hearing how others are battling with it. But I’m trying to focus more on the fact that we know a little more about how to deal with it now, we know more about how to keep ourselves safe and so my focus is on how good things will turn out this year if we can all just make adjustments to our lives and follow the rules.

What changes have you already made to how you socialise and work?
I am fortunate to be able to do all my work remotely, so for the foreseeable future, I will continue working from home and record my podcasts virtually.

I am making use of online shopping and grocery delivery services to minimize my interactions with the outside world, and another big change for me, was also to cancel my travel plans for January, as I’m super worried about the current increase in infection rates. So I’m staying home, and as for friends and family, thankfully we have other means of catching up that don’t require us to be physically together.

Will you be making any additional changes?
Besides adhering to the protocols, I am just putting more emphasis on encouraging my friends and family to be safe and stay home as far as possible. I understand some still need to leave home and go to work, shops and so on but I have been that unrelenting aunt in the family WhatsApp group sharing stats and asking them to limit their movements only to what is necessary.

How are you planning to get through the next few weeks? Coronavirus is with us for a while longer so how are you going to stay safe and keep positive?
I’m mentally trying to stay positive and encourage those that are around me as much as I can.

What changes have you already made to how you socialise and work?
I’m planning to keep my family and I safe. Trying to work from home as much as I can and limit face to face meetings.

Will you be making any additional changes?
I’m really not going out and avoiding social spaces for now. I think it’s important to keep in touch on Zoom and WhatsApp with our family and friends to keep the human connection going.
