South Africa is the most popular tourist destination in Africa. Tourists enjoy the diverse wildlife, beautiful people, varied terrain, lovely weather, and diverse cultures that the country offers, which explains why most of them fall in love with this country and often return for more.

Here are a few American celebrities who love visiting South Africa. They all fell in love with it the first time they visited the country.

Terry Crews

Terry Crews is a big name in America’s entertainment industry. He is a former American footballer, a TV presenter, and an actor who has appeared in a number of popular films and TV series. He is also among the American celebrities who love visiting South Africa.

In 2013, Terry Crews visited South Africa for the first time to shoot a rom-com film titled ‘Blended’, and he loved it.

Although he hasn’t returned to South Africa since completing his film project, it’s clear that Crews carried a piece of South Africa with him and we expect him to visit again.

Dressed in a Springbok jersey in 2019, Terry joined South Africans to celebrate the Rugby World Cup victory.

Shakira

Although she is Colombian, Shakira is one of those stars whose popularity cuts across all corners of the earth, and she is well-known and widely celebrated in the US.

The Waka Waka hitmaker has a special place in her heart for Mzansi and is one of the celebrities who loves visiting South Africa.

Shakira first visited South Africa in 2010, ahead of the 2010 world cup, where she performed during the opening and closing ceremonies. Little did she know that she would also meet the love of her life and future husband.

During her stay in South Africa, she was also able to visit several schools and interact with children.

Besides meeting her future beau, something else that Shakira loved about her visit to South Africa was the warm reception she got from the locals.

Taraji P Henson

The Empire star is another American celebrity who loves visiting South Africa. She visited the country for the first time, fell in love with it, and decided to return.

After visiting South Africa for the first time in 2016, Taraji expressed how she was impressed by the women’s natural beauty and curvy bodies. This inspired her to shave off her head once she returned to the U.S.

In 2018, she returned with her entire family for another visit. Speaking to Sowetan Live, Taraji expressed her love for the country and how being there made her feel proud of her heritage.

It turns out that "Cookie Lyon" also loves South African food because it's full of flavour.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star, Will Smith, is another American celebrity who loves visiting South Africa. In one of his past visits, he had the honour of meeting the late Nelson Mandela.

Besides visiting South Africa several times, Will Smith has also visited other countries in the Southern African region, including Namibia and Zambia. It appears that the star has infinite love for the continent.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Another American celebrity who loves visiting South Africa is the Titanic star, Leonardo DiCaprio.

The actor played a South African character in the film Blood Diamonds, which was also filmed in South Africa, and it appears that he formed a strong bond with the country and particularly the wildlife.

Jared Leto is one of those American celebrities who love visiting South Africa because he feels that the country is a lucky place for him.

The award-winning actor/musician first visited South Africa in 2004 to film Lord of War. Since his first visit, he has made more visits to the country to record his music and perform for his fans.

In 2014, he toured South Africa with his band- 30 Seconds To Mars. Ahead of the tour, he posted a video on YouTube where he expressed his excitement to be back in the country.
