The IdolsSA season 15 finale aired last week and practically a minute after the show ended, season 16 was confirmed.
Of course, Twitter was unhappy, calling for the show to go on a break and give itself time to nurture the talent that it finds. But also, give us a break nje.
Idols SA is not listening. They've already set their dates for auditions next year. But, we will have some reprieve, as a new music show is going to grace our small screens in the new year.
On 12 January 2020, Old Mutual’s Amazing Voices, a pan-African singing competition, will premiere on the small screen with contestants from nine African cities – Accra, Kumasi, Mombasa, Nairobi, Bulawayo, Harare, Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg –squaring off against each other for the grand prize of $100 000 (R1.5 million). The show will run for 13 weeks until 5 April 2020.

The show will seek to unearth unsigned music groups across three genres:
- Gospel,
- Pop, and
- Rhythm and blues (R&B).
The show will see celebrity selectors from each of the four countries selecting three groups from each genre after mass auditions to steer them through the elimination round before the winning group is chosen.
The show will kick-off with mass auditions then shortlisted groups will advance to the home ground battle, which will be the elimination stage. After the elimination phase, three groups will advance to the grand stage where they will sing it out to win the main prize, in Johannesburg.
The show will be broadcast on Mzansi Magic, Mzansi Wethu, Africa Magic, Maisha Magic East and Zambezi Magic at 17:00 CAT, starting 12 January 2020.
