Big Zulu has been nicknamed Big Ndunu. A response by the general Hip-Hop community following the release of Duncan Skuva’s reply diss track of the same name. A week since releasing his culturally impactful diss track 150 Bars, Big Zulu has proven that he is currently the most influential Hip-Hop artist who is actively reviving the once dominant genre locally.

Already known is that in the week since the release of the diss track, four of the leading rappers have responded to the track and have given the genre a new surge of excitement. Namely, K.O with Omega Freestyle, Kwesta with Quantham and Duncan Skuva’s Big Ndunu. Besides the release of the reply diss tracks, Big Zulu and 150 Bars have had long-reaching effects on the culture as a whole

  1. Kwesta sets the record straight

Kwesta released his reply diss track Quantham earlier this week, and before Duncan Skuva released his reply diss track, it was considered the best of the diss tracks released. This is as Kwesta seemed to confirm that Big Zulu was living off his hand outs from the car he drove when he first got to Johannesburg to the house that Big Zulu currently lives in.

But seeing as these sentiments which were initially perpetuated by his former business partner and manager Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi, were more talked about than his actual reply diss track. Kwesta took it upon himself to clarify that Big Zulu bought the house and it belongs to him now. Moreover, he asserted that there was no bad blood between them, and his reply was all about reviving Hip-Hop.
  1. Is AKA jealous?

AKA is responsible for one of the best diss tracks in local South African history with Composure, which was his reply to Cassper Nyovest’s more forgettable Dust to Dust. As such, you would believe that the rapper would endorse the battling through bars rather than tweets and posturing on social media. But it seems that the Mega might be a little too salty about what is going on in Hip-Hop. In a series of tweets, he made it clear that he does not support the current trend suggesting that another soccer match might be better.
Moreover, he asserted that he is working on new music. But the real question being who is currently looking out for an AKA single. More so following the lacklustre response to his last two projects including Bhovamania and his joint album with Costa Titch.
  1. The return of Zuluboy to Hip-Hop

Probably, the biggest and most poignant impact that 150 Bars has had to date is how it was able to bring back one of the most respected rappers back to the game. Zuluboy was one of the best and hottest rappers from the 2010s. But stepped away from music to focus on other career path ambitions like acting.

It had been years since he released any new music. But Zuluboy returned to the studio and wrote 50 Bars. a diss track which is not directed at rappers, but instead is directed to the Minister of Police as indicated by the suggestive, if not explicit, cover art of the track.
