Some people are still going crazy at the thought of Beyoncé possibly writing a movie about and starring as Saartjie Baartman.
Although rumours about the project have been slammed, people still continue to share their thoughts.
One of those people is Mzansi TV and radio personality Bonang Matheba. The media darling, who is gearing up for this weekend's L'Ormarins Queen's Plate in Cape Town, was on Power FM on Wednesday afternoon.
When asked what she thinks about the rumoured movie, she said: "If we aren't doing it, someone else is gonna do it. And if we aren't doing anything about it, who are we to complain that somebody else is, you know, taking the initiative to do it?"
She added that she hopes that if it's done, it's done thoroughly. "[I hope] It's done respectfully, and it's done with true essence and for the all the right reasons. And, I mean if we're sitting back and not telling our stories somebody else will."
However, it doesn't look like the movie will be happening. In a statement to Billboard, the Single Ladies singer's rep said: "Beyoncé is in no way tied to this project. This is an important story that should be told, however."
