Tlale is one of South Africa’s most celebrated designers, locally and internationally. We have seen his work making it to the most prestigious international fashion and award shows.
On the 29th of January in 1975, David he was born in a township called Voslorous in South Africa. In 2002, he was a semi finalist at the South African Fashion Week Elle New Talent Show Competition. Now running his own clothing label, his work never ceases to amaze us.
Today, David is celebrating his 46th birthday, but it will be amiss of us if we did not mention the many times that David has left us stunned with his work.

When David dressed Florence Kasumba
From fashion weeks to collaborations, David Tlale has mastered the perfection of true, classy and expensive fashion. All this can be seen in his designs that have been all over the world to the point where he was honoured to have dressed Lion King actress, Florence Kasumba who starred in the remake of the 1994 classical.
David beamed with excitement when he spoke about dressing the Ugandan Disney star for the second time. “Florence is such an amazing star and I am honoured that she requested me again. I wanted to give her a look that is different but classic and timeless and stands out on the celebrity Disney carpet. The look speaks of Africa that is global, elegant and true to itself,” shared the designer.
David Tlale reinvents the colour red at the Vodacom Durban July
From abandoning his love for the colour black for the first time in his career David turned the runway red to unveil a special, once-off collection based on the colour red, titled 'RED by David Tlale', at the Vodacom Durban July.
“We are hard-wired to red. There is no other colour that is so fundamental; so fused to our primal, human itch that it stops us in our tracks. I couldn’t think of a better colour for the individual who expects more,” said Tlale in a statement.

David goes to New York Fashion Week
One of David's most memorable achievements to date was when David Tlale was the first South African to showcase his work at the 2012 Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week in New York. This saw David return onto the runway with even more stylish garments for his 2015 Summer/Spring Collection which was led by international model, Tyson Beckford.
