Deborah Fraser Receives An Honorary Doctorate

Legendary Gospel Singer Deborah Fraser has joined other veterans including Dr. Lillian Dube, Dr. Noxolo Grootboom, and many more. She also received her doctorate honorary. She took to Instagram to celebrate the milestone.

The award-winning singer said her journey is not defined by the number of albums she has  and also "It is not defined by the number of accolades I have received."

Dr. Deborah's career dates back to 1985 where she started off as a backing singer. She eventually debuted her solo album making her latest album titled "Ngeke ngiyeke ukuthandaza" her 10th studio album offering.

A few days ago she shared her beautiful throwback picture with her friends including the late Brenda Fassie.

"What do u guys call it a throwback Thursday??? The girls I have walked this journey with...I am grateful for every moment that I got to spend with the...It was always laughter and love," she said captioning the picture on Instagram.

She said it has been a long ride filled with highs and lows. She wrote: "It is a journey of thousands miles experienced with so much love from my supporters and fans. It is defined through the millions of souls that I have reached and touched out there with this everlasting gift that God gave me. It is defined through lives I have saved and changed through the language of music...It has been a tedious journey with lows and highs"

Dr. Deborah wrapped up her lengthy Instagram post by thanking God for being with her through and through. "To God almighty...Father, I wouldn't have made it without your grace and love..... U have always been the pillar of my strength through the darkest moments of my faith being shaken..... Such an honor it is to be called Dr. Deborah Fraser."

Jerusalema hitmaker Nomcebo Zikode also took to her timeline to congratulate Dr. Deborah on her milestone.

"After 36 years of her career, She finally gets the respect she deserves as she earns the "Doctors" title ..now she can be officially referred to as Dr. Deborah Fraser," she wrote.

The singer applauded Dr. Deborah adding that she released timeless music. "Dr. Fraser started her career as a backup singer back in 1985 and recorded her first album "abanye bayombona" in the year 2000 which sold over 1 million copies...Pls help me Congratulate her on this biggest achievement, she gave us timeless music, Thank u, Dr. Deborah Fraser."
