Phori was allegedly paid R100 000 in October last year to perform at an event in Botswana. According to MmegiOnline, the DJ did not pitch.
The event's promoter Exotic Sebina told the publication that Phori's management did not give him a valid reason as to why Phori failed to perform as agreed.
“At the time his management told us ‘he just doesn’t want to come but we learnt that he also had an event the same night at Konka in SA. Up to now they have not refunded me nor given me a new date of a makeup performance. I have since opened a criminal case against him to be arrested upon entering Botswana,” Sebina told the publication.
The publication also reported that the Central Police Station Crime Investigation Department in Botswana has confirmed that the charges have been laid against Izolo's hitmaker. It is also stated that Sebina revealed that Phori will be served with a P1 million (over R1.3 million) summons for event damages.
Meanwhile, Maphorisa has been under fire recently following his Facebook rant. A few days ago he took to the Communication App claiming that he has been backstabbed by his former artist Mlindo The Vocalist. Mlindo was signed under Phori's Blaq Boy Music Label.
In his lengthy Facebook post, Phori said he tried to help Mlindo and found a road manager for him but he later found out that they have decided to cut him off.
"To cut the long story short after two years I hear Nyiko is Mlindo's manager. The cut me off my percentage, h promoted himself. I said cool I will let them be even though I could take him back, I left them to do their thing," he wrote.
Mlindo has not reacted to Maphorisa's claims yet. However, his manager Nyiko has hit back at Maphorisa. He denied the allegations and revealed that the DJ mistreated Mlindo.
He said, "Maphorisa neglected Mlindo for two years. He forced Mlindo to do Amapiano and when he refused, Maphorisa threatened to dump him. There was a huge fight and as Mlindo’s manager, I needed to step in and save his career,
“When Mlindo bought his mother a house, Maphorisa was not there. When Mlindo had two car accidents in 2020, Maphorisa was not there...He was nowhere to be found. He ran away from problems and I had to step up for Mlindo. Today, Mlindo is the number one best-selling artist in SA. This was a team effort and Maphorisa was not part of it,” Nyiko told Daily Sun.
