He shared that people thought he was crazy in the beginning. Phori was reacting to a fan who tweeted that when Amapiano started, Major labels did not support the movement.
The fan also added, "@DjMaphorisa went indie without Sony deal, after a lot of months Major labels are investing in Amapiano, because Hip hop, House and RnB they all can't beat Amapiano…"
In response, Phori said that's how life is in general. He said some people are always yearning to test others.
Tweeps have since taken to the comments sections to share their opinions and here are a few reactions.
Earlier this week, Phori joined the trending topics on Twitter. He was being called out following the allegations that Mlindo The Vocalist's manager, Nyiko The Great made against him.
Nyiko has revealed that the DJ neglected Mlindo for two years. He said Phori forced Mlindo to do Amapiano and threatened to cut him off when he refused.
Nyiko also claims that DJ Maphorisa never supported Mlindo as his artist.
"He was nowhere to be found. He ran away from problems and I had to step up for Mlindo. Today, Mlindo is the number one best-selling artist in SA. This was a team effort and Maphorisa was not part of it,” he told Daily Sun.
Nyiko was hitting back at the claims that DJ Maphorisa made on one of his Facebook rants. Phori alleged that Nyiko and Mlindo went behind his back and made deals excluding him after he helped the both of them.
He said he gave Nyiko a chance when he was down and out and asked him to be Mlindo's road manager. The DJ revealed that after some time he learned that the pair had decided to cut him out as Mlindo's manager and that's how Nyiko ended up managing Mlindo. He also shared that Mlindo has asked to work with him again.
However, in his defense, Nyiko shared that when things went south for Mlindo, he was the only one who was there to help him out.
Meanwhile, Howard Gomba has rubbished DJ Maphorisa's claims. He said Mlindo was fed up when he parted ways with Phori's record label and he is not planning to work with him again.
Howard works with Mlindo and Nyiko. He said, "Mlindo wants to come back to BlaqBoy? He said he didn’t want to be under you anymore because you are persuading him to do Amapiano and collaborate with your other artists, which he’s not comfortable doing – hence you left him and did not care about him for two years,” he responded on Phori's post.
