There is no doubt that 2021 has been DJ Maphorisa’s year career-wise. He has been dropping hit after hit, and it is clear that he has this game on lock.

He is finally getting the recognition he deserves for all the talent and hardwork he has been pouring into his work. According to the RiSA's The Official South African Music Chart, Mzansi has been vibing to his music as much as ever, and they appreciate all that he is doing for the industry.
According to a RiSA representative, News 24 reports, the musician has been topping the charts week after week, with at least three appearances every time.

Recognized alongside Madumane, is his collaborator, Kabza de Small. The two of them have been producing insane music this year. The representative even went as far as to crown them the kings of Amapiano. And with at least three chart appearances each week, we wonder what they have left for the rest of the industry players to share.
Phori is an undeniable master of his craft. If you don’t believe us, have a look at how packed his schedule is. He is staying booked and busy, and demand for his presence is through the roof. He will be headlining a massive event featuring his protege Kabza, as well as other beloved acts like Andile Mpisane and Young Stunna, the Adiwele star.

Tweeps are obviously waking up to the fact that he is unmatched, and many went online to say as much. They are even asking Vusi Nova, who recently rebranded as S’Nova and debuted his entry into the Amapiano scene, to seek out Phori to direct his steps. According to Tweeps, S’Nova cannot hope to make it in the industry unless under Phori’s wing, and they have a point.
But Phori may be setting himself up as a gatekeeper for the industry. He recently made headlines for mean remarks about Kamo Mphela, who is just now trying to make it in the industry.

He called her hit song, Nkulunkulu, which is from a 2021 album of the same name, a terrible song. It was revealed to her by Cassper on The Braai Show With Cassper Nyovest. The comment was certainly hurtful, and we would not be surprised if Kamo chooses not to work with Madumane ever again.

Unfortunately for the star, his personal life doesn’t seem to be going as well as his professional life is. He recently allegedly had his heart broken by Thuli P, whom he had been rumoured to be dating for a while.

Either way, his star is too bright to be deemed for long, not even by that one sad performance following his heartbreak. He is greatly talented, and we are honoured to be alive to witness all the places he will go.
