Babes Wodumo rose to superstardom in 2016 with the release of her smash hit Wololo which was in her debut album Gqom Queen. The single made her a household name with a legion of fans.
DJ Tira said Babes still has the potential to the charts again. The DJ was speaking at Mampintsha’s memorial service held on Thursday at the eThekwini Community Church in Durban.
“Babes must go back to the top of the charts. When she joined the music industry she was charging R100,000 per gig. You [Babes] should not be comfortable [with earning less] and you need to get out of your comfort zone if you want to go back to the top. You need to work hard and have a focus. Also, we still have Sponge [Babes’ child] to raise because Mampintsha is no longer with us. We as his friends, we will do anything for him [Mampintsha],” said Tira. This week has been painful and dramatic for the Simelane and Maphumulo families. This comes after Mampinstsha's mom Zama Gumede, topped the Twitter trends list following a video of her and her family fighting for the late star's body outside the Clermont Icebolethu funeral parlor in Durban.
In the video, the livid family members can be heard saying "what did she do to you" and "she only wants to see her son," while insulting Babes Wodumo's family.
"WATCH: It looks like Mampintsha's funeral will be marred by war of words between those from his mother's side in KwaMashu and the family of Babes Wodumo. Apparently, this unnecessary drama unfolded outside the mortuary earlier today" wrote Sihle Mavuso.

According to Daily Sun, Zamanguni Gumede said she was there to get permission from her daughter-in-law Babes Wodumo to see her son's corpse before the funeral on Friday.
"I don’t know where they kept his body, so the purpose of my visit was to request Babes to give me permission to see Mpinstho’s body before the funeral,” she said.
