This past week, Hlubi Mboya's return to TV was announced at an intimate media event in the Sandton suburb of Morningside hosted my Clive Morris Productions.
Mboya will be playing the role of a female detective named Ntsiki Motshe in an SABC 3 drama titled 'The Docket' which will premiere on 22 August 2018.
Her character is the lead of a special forces team called the Ravens which also happens to be an all-male team.
Speaking to Sowetan, Mboya said "we have been hungry for this kind of content in South Africa for a long time. As the only female [on the team] I think it's s important to be able to visualize and access black female leads. When was the last time we saw that?"
She also went on to gush about how complex her character is and how much she has fallen in love with this particular story as a result of that.
She will be joined on the cast by Sheena Deenarain and Nhlanhla Mtshali among others.
The show's producer, Clive Morris, feels as though South Africa is hungry for this kind of story, adding "South Africans are generally interest in how crimes are solved and this drama will finally give them that."
