Viewers were left shocked and unimpressed after the show aired the collapsing of an 18-year-old contestant.
The 12th season of Idols SA was met with a lot of excitement, and it began trending on social media hours before it even aired.
The first episode was filled with a lot of entertaining highlights, but it was all fun and games until an 18-year-old contestant named Nqobile entered the auditioning room.
Already nervous and close to tears, Nqobile informed the judges that she would be singing Alicia Key’s Empire State of Mind.
Controlled by her nerves, Nqobile delivered a poor performance which led to her being heavily critiqued by the judges.
The teenager could not handle the criticism, and in an unexpected turn of events, she fainted falling on the floor - face first!
Stunned at the sudden collapsing of the teenager, Unathi attended to the young lady while Randall, Somizi and Gareth sat there for a moment, perplexed by what had just happened. Some viewers were angered at the show's decision to air the moment and why there wasn't a sense of urgency to assist Nqobile.Hayi ngeke sbali...... People are outchea though. Can't wait to see edits of this moment. #IdolsSA pic.twitter.com/WIWUl3bMFv

Where was the urgency on this set? And that response from the medics felt slow. Carry on shooting rather than jump to help?!? #IdolsSA

On the other hand, others thought the moment was staged for high TV ratings.

Thankfully Idols SA confirmed that Nqobile has recovered. We sincerely hope she won't be receiving any form of bullying at school because of the incident. After all at the end of the day, it's still just a competition. They were too calm... That was staged #IdolsSA
