In 2021, South African music group Mi Casa celebrated ten years since the release of their prolific debut album and hit lead debut single of the same name, These Streets. Since then the trio consisting of vocalist J’Something, producer-DJ Dr Duda and trumpeter Mo-T has been one of the most prolific “boy bands” from the past decade.

Most of their working relationship and friendship seemed unshakeable for years until in 2017 ahead of the release of their studio album Familia. Which was a body of work released as the group had recently mended their fences as Mi Casa at the time shared that ahead of the album, they were on the verge of splitting.
These words were echoed J’Something when he explained to IOL at the time that:
“This album isn't an album that we made because we needed to put out another album. This album was made because we nearly broke up as a family, as Micasa. When I say this I’m not trying to be dramatic. I have six songs on my laptop that were a solo album. I was ready to go.”
Now it seems that J’Something is pivoting towards preparing for his solo career if his Instagram and recent activities are anything to go by.
Mi Casa’s J’Something going solo?
As the world came to terms of the “new normal” and the world opening up again. Numerous people have furthered the ambitions they believed that they could not during the pandemic and the lockdown. One such personality seems to be father and husband J’Something.
During the height of the pandemic, J’Something diversified as a businessman. Whether it was his culinary interests which has resulted in him opening a number of restaurants and becoming a sought-after culinary voice and host. He also has his gin business Jin Gin. One ambition he seemingly could not fulfil without a crowd was venturing into releasing solo music.
Therefore, in November 2022, he embarked on his solo tour titled Indoor with J’Something. A three-leg tour which travelled to three major metropolitans in South Africa. His intention with the tour he had explained back in August 2022, when he announced that the tour and performance is a compilation of songs he loves and interpreted into his own singing style.
This came off the back of J’Something back in June 2022, sharing what he stated was over five albums worth of solo music that he has not shared outside of close family and friends.
But his current tour which drew to a close on Friday, 2 December 202 following his second night performance in Johannesburg. It has been confirmed and reiterated that this venture is not meant to be seen as the end of Mi Casa.
This is as Mi Casa has confirmed that they are currently working on their new studio album. More so, the trio is currently working on finalising the debut single from the upcoming album. A single, which they believe will have the same impact as their 2020 hit single Mamela off the studio album We Made It.
