Rapper K.O dominated the continental music scene back in 2022. This is as the legendary rapper returned with what was deemed his comeback single SETE, featuring Young Stunna and Blxckie. Lady DU on the other hand had decided to use 2022 to focus on diversifying her portfolio as a businesswoman. From sharing posts on what she was able to afford from the money she made through her music, to starting her own salon and beauty spa.
However, this year Lady Du is ready to release her first independent debut album with Song Is Queen. However, ahead of the official album release, Lady Du has released her first single from the album which is the Amapiano single Wishy Wishy, featuring Okmalumkoolkat and DJ Riley.
Given the beef that the two artists had recently, it is no wonder that the two songs were pitted against each other.
It’s K.O’s SETE Remix vs. Lady Du’s Wishy Wishy
On Friday, 24 March 2023, K.O finally released the official remix to his hit single SETE. The remix in question is promoted as the Pan-African remix of 2022 hit single as it features Nigeria’s Oxlade and Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz.
The SETE Remix does not change much from the original single except for the fact that the song is slowed down and a solo horn interlude breakdown is added and is more prominent towards the end of the single.
Wishy Wishy by Lady Du is a strictly Amapiano-Kwaito single which is about manifesting one’s prayers and goals into life. As such, it seems that single follows the inspirational ethos that Lady Du has been tweeting and spreading via Twitter and throughout her interviews.
Given that the songs were released on the same day, fans began to compare the two songs attempting to decide which was better between the two. This comes after K.O released a diss track which shaded Lady Du. At the time, the matter was reported as follows:
Back in January 2023, K.O started the year with his first official single titled Forecast 23 where he took jabs at former TearGas member Ntukza, and Lady Du. As reported at the time:In a surprising twist, K.O also went on to drag Lady Du for filth. It seems that Lady Du had come for SETE before it asserted itself as the biggest song of 2022, and K.O was not having it. He dragged the Wawa signature singer by highlighting that his song has officially now been certified diamond after Lady Du suggested that K.O was lying when he said the song was gold.
Lady Du had responded, which was reported as:
“Let me tell you about people that don’t check numbers. Go to my social media and check how many followers I have, and go to his followers. Then go to my music, then go to his music, I’m not going to say anything after that… Check the numbers, don’t go writing songs, check the numbers.”
Moreover, adding that:
I have 169 countries listening to my music. So if I’m putting you on my song, I’m giving you credit on my platform. It’s like you rolling out the red carpet for someone else to walk on, hell no! He did that for me, and I got 350 000 followers.”
