The Wife viewer's voices have been heard! According to speculations by Phil Mphela, the series producers will tend to viewers' cries and stick to the book. Although the show has been receiving rave reviews and breaking records, it received a lot of backlash from people because the storyline did not stick to what was written in the original books by Dudu Busani.

"WORD IS The Wife series to reflect the book. Looks like your reactions to the #TheWifeShowmax series have not fallen on deaf ears. The murmur is that the third season of the series will veer closer to the book. The new season is still in pre-production," announced Phil Mphela.

However, fans are not too excited about this seeing how the storyline was changed completely. They have little faith that they will be able to go back to what was originally written.

Even Khanyi Mbau was not feeling the new season's storyline saying it does not reflect what was intended by the book.

"Great concerns flying around regarding season 2 of The Wife Showmax. I think let’s address this issue! CAUSE I SEE IT TOO!!" she started off. "We have let you down, we have not given you what you wanted , what you had anticipated! a love story between Zandile and Nkosana. That’s what we all hoped to experience."

Khanyi plays Zandile in the series and is married to Nkosana Zulu. She wished that Zandile and Nkosana would have told a love story many related to, "The Wife Showmax has become more of a crime drama series on a lot of prison scenes, people going missing...hate and mystery instead of a warm, sexy story about a man a woman who should be in love."

She added, "The book had all the romance a wife should experience with her better half and we watched them develop into a married couple and it gave us all the feels

"But season two didn’t give us enough love, and companionship from Zandile and Nkosana and that is why you are all so disappointed, I am too. The book version shares so much intimacy, seduction, and love, a story about patience and triumph and that's why we feel we let you down."

"To be honest I had hoped for an African version of 50 shades of grey with live, that’s how I imagined them. YOUR CRIES ARE HEARD AND I UNDERSTAND."

Speaking about the challenges Zandiel presented to her, Khanyi said, "She is not an open book; I am still in the process of trying to find who she is. She's very cold and detached and disconnected from reality. She doesn't cry. She speaks with the same tone. She never lifts her voice. So she frustrates me and she is going to frustrate the viewers, to the extent of almost disowning her because she seems indecisive and manipulative.

"You can never pinpoint what she's going to wake up like the next day. I think even her husband struggles with that. But she has one thing about her that I like: she loves deeply, which is something that she has in common with her husband."
