"I don't care what culture, religion or politics say. It's my feelings and my truth, and I'm walking it in the most dignified way possible. I think it's silly to go seeking blessings on what I've written."- Khanyisa Buti
Those are the words of Khanyisa Buti, who is in the process of releasing his debut album (intriguingly titled Boet Sissy).
Khanyisa who goes by the stage name Buti or Majola has had a relatively harmonious initiation into the industry even rubbing shoulders with South African Politicians. Khanyisa was recently invited to perform at various DA rallies by the party's Gauteng premiership candidate, Mmusi Maimane.
This unexpected invite could be credited to his single - Believe in Change, which was dedicated to Maimane and chosen as one of the political campaign.
According to Times Live: The debut album is in the can and eventhough no album artwork has been revealed, or a release date announced, the few songs that have been heard suggest that Buti knows exactly what he wants to say and is unrepentant about it.
Look out for Mountain View a digital E.P, he wrote about his love affair with another man just before his initiation into manhood back home in the Eastern Cape. You can be sure to expect an interview from ZAlebs with regards to that story.
