Back To The City was one the hottest tickets to have this past weekend. For the most part for festival goers, the return of the biggest Hip-Hop event in South Africa was met with favourable reviews. But it seems that the actual drama happened between the artists and ZAlebs in the VIP.

Hence if it was not allegations of gatekeeping and “newer” artists being given unfavourable times in the lineup. It seems that one person who seemed to take offence for the events that took place at the festival is Ntsiki Mazwai. This is as she alleges that her alcohol was stolen by American rapper Keith Murray. 

Ntsiki Mazwai accuses American rapper of theft

Ntsiki Mazwai first alluded to the traumatic events after getting home. She took to Twitter to assert that when she wakes up, the first thing she wants to do is tell the story of how her bottle of Henessy was stolen by American rapper, Keith Murray. Murray was part of the entourage of Mr Cheeks, who is a legendary underground rapper from the US. Ironically, before things went sour for Mazwai, before her traumatic experience, she had taken a photo with Mr Cheeks. 
Following waking up, Mazwai went back to Twitter to tease the details of her traumatic experience. She alleged that Murray came over to their table and took the bottle in question. Murray would then take the bottle and go and drink it with his table. 
You would think that as this was going on, someone would intervene. But according to Mamiya, the alleged “starstruck”  local celebrities only watched from the sides. A fact which could be a result of how local media personalities feel about Mazwai and the many things she has said about them on her timeline. 
But what made matters worse was the allegation that when she did attempt to address the matter with the American rapper in question. Instead of Murray acknowledging his mistake, Mazwai alleges that either Murray or someone in his camp attempted to get physical with her. 
 
Who is Keith Murray? 

For those that might not know who Keith Murray is, as not everyone is a Hop-Hop. Murray is a rapper who is best known for being part of the rap collective known as Legion of Doom from Long Island. But his claim to fame is through being a member of Hip-Hop trio Def Squad, with fellow members Redman and Erick Sermon. 

Under his belt, he has a single solo album including The Most Beautiful Thing In This World, which was released with the self-titled single. It is for this reason that he might not be a major commodity in terms of the local mainstream Hip-Hop community. 
If you are wondering what Back To The City has had to say about what Mazwai alleges, well, nothing. Same to Keith Murray and his team. A fact which does not come as a surprise when considering that Mazwai does not have the leverage to incite a response.
