Actor Siya Xaba, popularly known as Langa Ndaba/Dlamini on Gomora Mzansi, has wasted no time finding his feet following his exit from the drama. The rising star has directed his first movie and it is currently streaming on Showmax.
The film follows Tony and Faye who are happily engaged, prepare a picnic date and a ring at the doorbell will force Tony to make a decision he has been dreading to make for a long time. The film stars his former cast members from Gomora in Siphesihle Ndaba and Ama Qamata.
Gomora viewers were shocked by the news of Langa’s exit. His character died after suffering severe injuries after his dad’s wife Gladys set Mam Sonto’s tavern on fire to avenge her late brother, Mohato. At the time she did not know that Langa was trapped inside.
Director Lulu Hela describes Xaba as one of the best actors she’s ever worked with and she knew from day one that he was the perfect fit for the role of Langa. “Easily one of the best actors I’ve had the privilege of working with. We could never have picked a better thespian to play the role of Langa Ndaba on Gomora. And this is one of the roles where we knew early on, that we had found our Langa. He was that good!” She continued.
“A consummate professional. A perfectionist. An artist through and through. It’s been an absolute joy to work with you. An actor. A writer. A director. You’ve accomplished so much at such a young age. Not even the sky is the limit for you. Thank you for your passion. You are dearly loved. Siya Xaba.”
Hela first came across Siya in the internationally acclaimed series, The Crown. “The first time I ever saw Siya was on the international series - The Crown. He was probably in his teens when he shot that. But even then, you could see - this child is an absolute star! May your star keeps shining as brightly as your spirit does,” she said.
After filming his last episode in the show, the cast and crew gathered together to wish him a happy farewell. Xaba shared a few heartfelt words with everyone.
“Thank you, everybody, it’s been an amazing journey. I know it’s not like this but I have to say. I’ve been thinking about it the whole day. “But it’s been an absolute honour and a privilege working with all of you over this past year and a bit. From the crew members, absolutely amazing. Thank you for being there for me whenever.” Said the actor in part.
Former Gomora actress Ama Qamata was also in her feels and took to Instagram to wish her friend a happy farewell. “Happy farewell Siya. Y’all I couldn’t even watch yesterday’s episode because I would literally fall apart.” Shared an emotional Ama with Langa. “Siya Xaba as this chapter closes, I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that God has opened up so many other doors for you. Your talent is beyond anything I’ve seen.!! I can’t wait to see you flourish and show the world your magic. I luh you my dawg.”
