Local comedian Lasizwe received some hate on social media after sharing his excitement of being ranked in the The Avance Media 100 Most Influential Young South Africans 2018.

The media personality revealed that he had been ranked at number 7 which placed him as the overall lifestyle category winner.

Lasizwe shared in an emotional tweet:

β€œLadies and Gentlemen! We WON! 100 Most Influential Young South Africans! Thank you so much! I am ranked at #7 out of 100.”

Many of the young comedians’ fans celebrated with him.

However, the backlash was undeniably brutal as many felt that the results did not match up who they believed to be young and influential.

So, what does it take for one to make it onto the list?

A Nominee must be:

1.       A South African.
2.       15 or below 40 years.
3.       In 2 years of Active Service in a Category.
4.       Outstanding with Public Evidence of Impact
5.       Motivating to be able to inspire other young people with his/her work

Lastly the nominee has to be initially nominated for the award which might be the reason behind some of our favourite South African Influencers like Bonang and Trevor not making the list.

The awards have been proven to be based 100% on the public’s vote.

Here is the full list of the 2018 category winners:
