You might know actor Loyiso MacDondald from his current role on The Queen, however he has spent eleven years in the industry, in fact you might also recognise him from the soap opera Isidingo back in 2012, and with him striding strong as an actor today, he has truly come a long way but he admits that he was not always sure which career path to take after he matriculated.
In a recent interview on Trending SA, Loyiso revealed that he had worked at a call center after matric as he didn't want to just stay at home saying:
“I didn’t know what the hell I was gonna do after high school, so instead of sitting around at home I decided to work, for about two years I worked at a bank, I worked at a call center and I just got sick of it, I looked at the kind of people who I worked with who had been there for a long time and thought, there must be more than this.”
Loyiso went on to share that he then quit his job and thought of what he would enjoy doing most that he had already done and decided to pursue a career in acting.
“I quit, I just woke up one morning...and said no, I’m not doing this today…and then had to go through a process of elimination, what do I want to do...what do I enjoy, I had done some acting in school since I was six.”
And although Loyiso did not go to school to pursue acting, he says that once he had made his decision to become an actor he made means as growing up in Durban - where the film industry is small - made it easier.
“Once I decided what I wanted to do, I just found ways of getting auditions, eventually I got the right audition for the right role and it just steamrolled from there.”
