Rhythm City is getting a revamp and sadly, some of the cast members are not part of the plan. It has been reported that Keabetswe “KB” Motsilanyane and Peter Se-Puma, who have been on the show since it launched in 2007, are leaving. Sad, right?
According to City Press, the actors' contracts haven't been renewed and they will wrap up at the end of March. Monde Twala, the managing director of e.tv’s channels division, said on their departure: "KB and Peter are leaving Rhythm City. This is after Lucilla went to prison and Miles went on a holiday with his family."
He said the character changes are part of the channel's ongoing story development aimed at refreshing the soapie. "Both the actors’ storylines are open-ended," he added. Peter, who confirmed his departure to City Press, added that it is not the end of the road.
He continued: "It happened at the right time. I had an exclusive contract with e.tv and it didn’t allow me to do other things."
KB told the paper: "According to our contract with e.tv, we are not allowed to comment. You can contact the channel for the official comment."
A source told the paper that KB and Peter were not personally targeted. The source added that both actors were heartbroken when they first heard their contracts wouldn't be renewed.
Mondeo thanked Peter and KB for their commitment and passion over the past seven years. "We wish them success in their future endeavours," he said.
