The Oscar-award winner confirms her role on Trevor Noah's biopic - Born A Crime - a film adaptation of Trevor Noah's bestselling debut autobiography.

The actress recently confirmed the news on Twitter in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after Deadline.com solidified the confirmation of her role in the film.

Lupita will play the role of Patricia - Trevor's mother who survived a gunshot wound to the head after being shot by his stepfather 9-years ago.

In recent interviews, Trevor has always said that the hero of his autobiography was and still is his mother. In one of the chapters, Trevor explained why his mother played such a vital role in both his childhood and adult life:

"My mom raised me as though there were no limitations on where I could go or what I could do. When I look back, I realized she raised me like a white kid, not white culturally but in the sense of believing that the world was my oyster, that I should speak up for myself and that my ideas, decisions and thoughts matter."

There has been no word on when the cast will begin filming the biopic or who will be playing the role of Trevor.

We'll keep you updated on the developments of the film as more information comes.
