The dance was popularised by Amapiano singer and dancer Toss, real name Pholoso Masombuka, and it sees people, mainly men, shaking their hips in a rhythmic way while shirtless and with tight jeans.
The dance craze grew with many Tik Tokers sharing their versions of the dance and other stars made the dance grow popular as well.
But now, a pastor says the dance is 'manufactured by demons'. In a sermon that has gone viral, he said, “There is this dance that came newly. If you remember the girls dance this way,” he said while doing the dance.
He further added that he “saw that dance in the realm of the spirit.”

He continued, “Yes. The Lord took me there. I saw how the demons manufactured that dance style and unleashed that dance into the atmosphere, into the media.”
“Guess what? So many girls all over the world have hosted that demon. So in their so-called slightest TikTok, they wear something tight and then…” he continued.
Here is what social media users think about this:

Just another day for pastors to be misogynistic and hide behind the Bible, umlando started with men tho? Preach about salvation and leave judge Judy’s work to judge Judy https://t.co/NT6WHmY4WY

The way these pastors refuse to address the fact that they’re obsessed with young girls, is scary. https://t.co/1LTsnBJXXI

How you can tell that this pastor is an idiot, is that if you look at as many African cultures as possible, you’ll see that shaking ass and hips dances are a very common feature of most African cultures, and almost all are danced by men, not just women. https://t.co/A2YnvoAsZl

He also worried a lot of his fans when he fainted on stage while performing his famous Umlando dance. Addressing this, he said, "I just wanted to inform you that I am doing well.. I saw a video that has been circulating on Twitter and I just wanted to give you an update that I am okay and I appreciate the love and positive energies that you are sending out to me," he said.
"I appreciate everything. I will come back stronger and I wanted to apologize to the promoter for what happened. I hope the show went well after I had left," he said, thanking his fans for their support. Toss also thanked his mother with a freestyled verse, “I wouldn’t have survived the past few days without my mother. It’s been a tough week for her, but she stood for me when I couldn’t stand for myself!!! Ngiyabonga (thank you) for everything Ma!!! Ngisazok’jabulisa!!! Ak’pheleli La , Themba mina,” he wrote.
