Siya Kolisi/Makazole Mapimpi
After soccer, rugby has become one of the most popular sports here in Mzansi. And as you can already imagine our rugby players have done well to represent our national flag far and wide.

But nothing makes the game even more exciting than the quality and skill of its players. And for that reason, we thought it best to come up with a list of some of our fave top 5 rugby players that we couldn't be more proud of.

Siya Kolisi

Where to begin with Kolisi. Every time we think about South African rugby his name comes to mind and for good reason.

For as long as we can remember, Siya Kolisi has helped to bag Springboks win after win even at the world cup level. We have had the privilege of seeing Kolisi make history time and time again and we couldn’t be more proud as a nation.

Having grown up in the dusty streets of Zwinde, Kolisi had never imagined as a child that  he would be one of the most successful and well acclaimed rugby legends in all of history.

Tendai Beast Mtawarira

Here is yet another rugby legend who has made it on an international level. The Zimbabwean born World Rugby player is by far one of the greatest players the world rugby union has ever seen.

Having been discovered at the age of 15, Mtawarira made his debut by playing for the Sharks before he joined Springboks later on in his career.

Mtawarira boasts of playing in the field for decades now and has been capped more than 100 times. Just recently the rugby player was inducted into the Rugbypass hall of fame in 2021 which just speaks into how big of a deal he is and we continue to celebrate his many milestones.

Bryan Habana

Here is yet another Springbok player who despite being away from the field for quite some time now, is still recognized for his record holding career and for the great strides and contributions  he has made for the world rugby union.

The 37 year old has played for notable clubs, his most recent one being the Toulon Rugby Club in France. He recently decided to press pause on his sports career to further his education abroad and to see joy in his face for finally scoring a degree was such a sight for sore eyes.

And while it may not be clear whether or not he will be coming back to the pitch anytime soon, we can only wish him the very best as he continues chasing his dreams.

Lukhanyo Am

The Sharks professional rugby player is arguably one of the best players Mzansi has ever seen. His talent, skill and passion for the game is evident every time he is on the pitch and it is such a beautiful sight to see.

The 28 year old has achieved so much in his sports career which can only speak into his grit and determination.

He remains to be an inspiration to many upcoming players in the sport and there is no denying that his fans have always expected to see him grow and become even better with every game he plays.

Makazole Mapimpi

Last but not least we have Makazole Drex Mapimpi who is a professional rugby union player for the Sharks in Super Rugby and the South African national squad.

He was a member of the Springboks' winning team at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. In the World Cup Final, he became the first South African to score a try. You’d be surprised that despite his many wins and medals, he is still known to be one of the most down to earth players in Mzansi.

The 31 year old remains to be a household name in the industry and fame and money, controversies and scandals have followed in plenty.

That however has not stopped his career from blooming and we can only imagine the great things he will be achieving in future.

Which is your most memorable game from these baddies?
