On New Years Eve, Muvhango had a special guest and it was non other than the very energetic Makhadzi who set the stage on fire. The performance was proudly organized by Muvhango's Vhutshilo and as per their invite, everyone could join in on the fun virtually.
Artists performing on soapies is not a new thing but Makhadzi had everyone talking with her thrilling performance.
Speaking to Daily Sun ahead of her performance, the Murahu hitmaker said she was excited to welcome in the new year with the Muvhango family. She, like many others is anxious about the new year, saying she hopes this year is a better one than 2020.
She also felt at home because she boasted about having friends on the show. Makhadzi even touched on the drama which ensued between her and her former manager Rita Dee, saying she has dusted herself off and will focus on her supporters.
"I know Iβve been making headlines this year because of the drama with my former manager, but Iβll dust myself off and focus on my music. I have fans who support my music," she told the publication.
Makhadzi went on a Twitter rant blasting Rita Dee over unpaid royalties from her debut album Matorokisi, Rita then decided to hit Makhadzi with a defamation of character lawsuit.
Her performance on Muvhango had her topping the trends list, however she also dominated on social media when she won Song Of The Year for her hit single Murahu on various radio stations nationwide. She also made history by being the only artist to take the title for two years in a row. Last year she won Song Of The Year for Haka Matorikisi.
Many celebrities came in their numbers to show Makhadzi support and express their excitement for the Limpopo Queen. Like every other year, the Song Of The Year which is decided by listeners in all radio stations causes a stir on social media and conversations around tribalism occur. Yearly, Ukhozi FM gets lambasted by many people for only showing support to KZN artists. Winning the SOTY title was Khuzani for his hit song Ijele which scooped an impressive 957 950 Votes.
