When you speak of music in the hood, you know you're speaking of classics. And nobody had created more hood classics than Mandla 'Spikiri' Mofokeng, I mean why else would he be the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award? He's shaped the kwaito scene as we know it.

That's why today we're going down 5 of his hood hits and showing how much of a genius he is.

1. Pantsula For Life

Taken form the ex-TKZee members debut album, this hit didn't come as a surprise. The album became a South African classic and further emphasised the need for the King Don Father in this Kwaito game.

2. Ndofaya

Ever noticed how people from Soweto have nothing but love for Soweto? So much so that every chance they get they remind people they are from there? Well, that's what Spikiri chose to do with a lot of people might we add.

3. Vat-n-sit

Before your favourite rappers decided it was fashionable to all, the King Don Father had it on lock. Talking about living together as a couple. I'm sure this song would go a bit differently now that the economy is the way it is.

4.  Ngeke balunge

A much later addition to his array of posse cuts, this jam was made to remind the industry that he's what the game needs.

5. Bengimngaka

The comeback record from Kwaito's sweethearts Trompies showed exactly why they were seen as the best in the first place.
