As part of its efforts to introduce new shows to its audience, Mzansi Magic is hard at work and we love to see it. The channel has announced it will soon debut the star-studded new show, Isifiso, and people are already anticipating its debut.

Premiering on 4 July, the show is centerd around a woman living in her younger sister's shadow, envious of her seemingly perfect life - but not all is as it seems, as she soon and tragically discovers. The 13-part drama series is produced by Match Point Productions.

The show has a star studded cast including  Nelisa Mchunu (Isibaya, Isithembiso); Melusi Yeni (The Wild); Ntando Mncube (The Wife) and Zinhle Mabena (Isibaya). Its supporting cast includes both familiar and fresh faces, such as Duduzile Ngcobo, Bandile Maphalala, award-winning musician Sjava and Nkosinathi Kheswa.

“Monday nights on Mzansi Magic are known and loved for bringing thrilling dramas that keep viewers intrigued, week after week. We’re glad to keep this slot dynamic and of a high standard, and Isifiso is the latest show that we trust will resonate with our viewers. It’s fantastic that DStv Compact subscribers will get in on the action from the get-go,” says Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net.

She said they are bringing new faces to the small screens as part of their strategy to open up the industry. “We’re bringing new shows that feature known faces while also unearthing new talent – it’s a good balance of keeping actors’ careers growing and opening up the industry, all while carrying on with our mission as Africa’s best storyteller.”

Filled with shocking twists, betrayal and greed, Isifiso is the story of Bazothini (played by Mchunu), a woman who only wants the approval of her mother and those around her, and will stop at almost nothing to get it.

After a tragedy, Bazothini can now live her dream life, but is the grass really greener on the other side? Will Bazothini get her happily ever after? You’ll have to tune in to find out.

The channel recently announced that Ayeye and eHostela are coming back. Ayeye will return for the second season and it’s moving from Vuzu Amp to Mzansi Magic. eHostela will return for its 3rd season and it will premiere on Mzansi Magic with a new cast and a completely different storyline.

According to Mzansi Magic Director for Local Entertainment Shirley Adonisi, Mzansi Magic is keen on developing these established programs in new and exciting ways.

“We have invested in building the audiences for Ayeye and eHostela and want to give these audiences new stories within the framework of a title that they already like. Internationally anthology series have delivered strong ratings, and of course, Mzansi Magic wants its line-up to reflect the growing scope and scale of drama series available worldwide.”

It is unclear who will return on the second season of Ayeye. The 3rd season of eHostela will feature Siyabonga Thwala, Gcina Nkosi, Tony Kgoroge, Xoli Zondi, Nkanyiso Mchunu and Mduduzi Nombela.
