Most memorable ZAlebrity celebration of 2017

Earlier this month, we invited YOU, the ZAlebs reader to vote in the first ever ZAlebs awards and now that voting is closed, we’re revealing which ZAlebs came out tops in each category according to you.

While the year 2016 gained notoriety for being one of the worst years in existence, 2017 had enough ups and downs to keep everyone happy.

The following events dominated headlines for days, weeks and months on end - much to the annoyance of some readers but you cannot deny just how great they all were in their own right.

Sbahle’s Umemulo

We forgot just how young the fitness star is and we were swiftly reminded of that when her parents threw her one of the most lavish umemulos Kwa-Zulu Natal has ever seen. She even had a star studded guest-list for the post-umemulo dinner which included the likes of her ex (rumored to be current) boyfriend Itumeleng Khune as well as current first lady, Thobeka Zuma, Norma Gigaba, Tebogo Lerole, and Khanyi Mbau among others.

Minnie’s Wedding

The starlet announced her surprise engagement towards the end of 2016 and spent 2017 dominating headlines with all the festivities surrounding her weddings.

From her traditional ceremony in KwaZulu natal to her champagne-filled bridal shower and wedding down in Cape Town, Minnie’s wedding (and her three-part wedding special) will forever be remembered as one of the highlights of 2017.

The only event with the pomp and circumstance to rival Minnie’s wedding festival was SA media megastar, Bonang Matheba’s pink, R500,000 birthday party which left half the nation wishing they had scored an invitation.

On 2 December, South Africa saw rapper Cassper Nyovest achieve his dream of becoming the first hip-hop act to fill up FNB stadium. The event enjoyed a significant amount of attention and media coverage and will mean a lot for Nyovest’s career moving forward.

According to you, the most memorable ZAlebrity celebration of 2017 was #FillUpFNB which won the vote by a significant margin.
