Nathi Mankayi is making waves with his hit track Nomvula.

The singer, who hails from the Eastern Cape, has gained quite a following since he burst onto the scene. One of his biggest fans is Bonang Matheba, who has even been called 'Nomvula' by her fans because of how much she loves the song.

Bonang interviewed Nathi on her radio show The Front Row on Wednesday morning. Speaking about the song, he explained that it was inspired by a woman called Nomuvula, who he was in a relationship with.

"I think everyone has a Nomvula. It's the girl who is meant for you or the guy that's meant for you. You can have around six girls, but there's that one who will be meant for you. What I was trying to say with the song is that out of all the things I have been through, I want Nomvula."

Nathi told Bonang that the real Nomvula couldn't believe it when she heard the song. "She asked me if she was the Nomvula that I'm singing about. I said yes."

He's definitely one artist to look out for this year and he plans on being in the music industry for a long time. "I'm here to stay. I don't want to be like those artists who come and go," he told Bonang.
