For the past week, AKA’s team with the assistance of the likes of Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena worked hard at ensuring that AKA’s was honoured throughout the week. They are believed to be the team which was behind the billboard which was put up in honour of AKA.
However, as the memorial aired after delays and Moozlie was discovered as the MC, it seems that there were those that felt some type of way about her hosting the memorial service.
Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena defended for hosting AKA’s memorial
Moozlie has been the site of many of the public’s disdain. Ever since she “faked” her own tragic car accident leading many believed that she was dead, only to come out and reveal it was an awareness campaign. It seems that there are some members of the public that have not forgotten.
Couple this fact with the allegations that she came between DJ Zinhle and Pearl Thusi. A fact which was boldly refuted as Pearl’s daughter Thando was present and supportive of DJ Zinhle and Kairo during the memorial service. This is as Pearl Thusi is currently in India.
As Moozlie hosted the memorial service, there were those that questioned whether she was a suitable MC.
However, there were those members of the public which supported Moozlie. Mostly, as they believed that she managed to strike the subtle but effective balance of being serious and emotional, while still maintaining an air of fun and joviality throughout the festivities.
Among the ZAlebs that came out to defend Moozlie was friend and fellow rapper, Rouge. She highlighted just how much Moozlie has been going through behind the scenes. This is as she and the rest of the team have been working tirelessly to ensure that AKA gets his deserved sendoff.
Moreover, Rouge highlighted that this is the second time in over a year that Moozlie has had to do this for another ZAlebs. The first was with the confirmation that Riky Rick was no more. Moozlie was part of the team that worked on his memorial service and ensuring that Cotton Fest continues to exist following the passing of King Kotini.
Moozlie has been so busy ensuring that everything leading up to AKA’s funeral goes off without a hitch. So much so that she has not been active on social media. As such, her tribute to the rapper and her friend came just hours before the memorial service as she took to Instagram to honour her friend.
All of this Moozlie did while also holding up DJ Zinhle throughout this time. More so as Pearl Thusi could not be physically there to support her best friend in her time of need.
