In a country where Amapiano has taken over the House scene, there are a very few Deep House producer-DJs who get the credit they deserve for being “new” entrants that have made a name for themselves. Having formally introduced himself musically in 2019 with the release of his debut album Golden Power. It was arguably with his sophomore album For The Groovists that he became a name which was revered by a number of House-heads that affirmed him as one of the best newcomers to the genre. However, during this time, he would also face some public scrutiny as he is alleged to be a scammer two-folds.
Oscar Mbo, from alleged scammer to summer tastemaker
Back in January 2022, Oscar Mbo would face his first negative headline-making story when it was alleged that he was a scammer. This was after it was alleged that Mbo had skipped a gig. But not before he had already collected the booking fee for the matter. This only inspired more allegations against Mbo and his alleged trend of accepting bookings, but never pitching for his commitment.
Mbo did not speak on the matter, which did not stop social media from dragging the Asambeni hitmaker for filth. This was due to his love for designer labels and always looking his best. A fact which would also come to bite him in the posterior as social media would come for that too.
In the following months, before the rise of Musa Khawula, there was an Instagram account which garnered popularity for allegedly exposing our favourite ZAlebs for wearing knock-off designer clothing. As Mbo’s passion for clothes was a well known fact, it did not take long for him to make the list. A list which Khawula would perpetuate on the blue app. But again, Mbo chose peace and did not address the matter.
Seemingly, with the debut episode of the new season of Konka Live, which featured Mbo as one of the headlining acts for the show. The general public quickly forgot, while there were some that did not, and went on to celebrate the musicality of the producer-DJ. Taking to the timeline, tweeps celebrated just how talented the producer-DJ is behind the decks.
Moreover, tweeps began to circulate Oscar Mbo’s dancing videos. Mbo, unlike Amapiano artists who aim at targeting social media to promote their music through dance challenges, seems to genuinely love to dance. As such, his dance videos have been circulated as tweeps start planning their dance moves for the summer. Tweeps highlighted how they are planning to also incorporate Mbo’s nonchalant dancing style which is full of swag as they prepare for the summer.
Take a look at some of the more popularly circulated videos aimed at giving tweeps and the general public some inspiration in terms of moves to pull when trying to impress this summer.
