Actress and TV presenter Pearl Thusi took to Twitter to express how she feels about the country's move to lockdown level one.
Yesterday, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the adjusted level one of lockdown. This simply means that the lockdown regulations have been eased.
The curfew is now from 12 midnight to 4 am, a maximum of 100 people may attend funerals. However, after tears and night vigils are still prohibited. Non-essential establishments will close by 11 pm to allow employees to travel home before the curfew. Alcohol sale is also prohibited after 11 pm every day, and mass gatherings are allowed but not to exceed 2,000 outdoors and 750 indoors. At small venues, no more than half of the capacity may be used to allow for appropriate social distancing and ventilation.
Reacting on Twitter, the Queen Sono star wrote: "Weird how we’re at level 1 and they’re being nice just before voting time… Or am I reading too much into it?"
Pearl Thusi is not one to hold back, a few weeks ago she blasted DA for sending her message. She tweeted: "Hi @Our_DA I have no clue where you got my number from but can you please stop texting me." Her fans encouraged her to sue the party.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, award-winning singer Zahara was called out for performing at an EFF event, this was after a video of her performing at the party's Manifesto Launch made rounds on social media.
Responding to the backlash Zahara said, “LOL being Zahara is hard shame… you not supposed to do anything for yourself but must always do what people want you to do,” she wrote on Facebook.
The Loliwe hitmaker also made it clear that no one will tell her where and where not to perform. She wrote: “Where is the money for the relief fund? Who benefited? Artists were not working for the whole of 2020. What were we eating? Today, you have the liver to tell me which gig I must not take or which one I should. Asoze, we all wanna put bread on the table,”
On another post, the singer said she is willing to take any paying gig because no one will pay for her house bond or put food on the table for her "Artists weren’t working for the whole of 2020 and this year we work here and there… where was the ruling party when we were hungry?" she stated.
