Podcast and Chill is regarded as the fastest-growing local Youtube-based podcast. This is as the podcast had managed to more than double its subscribers in 2022 alone. As such, given their growth in 2022 alone, it was safe to assume that the podcast could manage to break the million subscribers mark in 2023.

However, what the podcast with MacG, Sol Phenduka and Ghost Lady seemed to miscalculate was how long it would take to reach the milestone. This is as in February 2023, the podcast announced the first-ever podcast event of its kind with its Road To A Million Subscribers concert which was set for Saturday, 15 April 2023.
MacGyver Mukwevho has asked Chillers to come in numbers as the Podcast And Chill network attempts to make history.“Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to (experience) 'Podcast and Chill' like never before! We are thrilled to announce that Africa's number one podcast will be celebrating a milestone of 1 million subscribers on YouTube at the SunBet Arena on April 15th, 2023. This historic event will feature a live recording of the podcast, as well as performances by some of South Africa's top entertainers…”
However, as the date neared, the team shared their concerns and plans to postpone the event as reported at the time:
Earlier this month MacG announced that Podcast And Chill would attempt to fill up the 8000-capacity Sun Bet Arena in Pretoria as they near the 1 million subscribers mark.
Giving the chillers an update on the preparations MacG shared that ticket sales were going slow and that he is pressured by the organising team to postpone the event.
“I figured out why our ticket sales are so low. The link is not working. The one we put in the description below. We are on 300 now. We are rocking, I told you.”
This would be the second podcast event ever in Podcast history. The first one was Joe Rogan at the Madison Square Arena.
Now it seems that the postponement has come to fruition following the recent announcement by the Podcast and Chill team.
Podcast and Chill’s One Million Subscribers concert postponed
Taking to Instagram recently, the Podcast and Chill team confirmed that they have taken the decision to postpone the Fill-Up event. In the caption, they labelled the reason for the postponement as a result of the call from its support base, the Chillers, who also believed that the event needed to be pushed back.
As such, the event will not take place on Saturday, 15 April 2023. But it will take place on Saturday, 30 July 2023. This will allow for the podcast to have enough, arguably more than enough, time to meet the one million subscribers mark in order to solidify the intention of the event. This is as the podcast currently sits with over 908k subscribers which is an over 50k subscribers growth between February 2023 and the beginning of this month.
