Reason has been the site of a lot of ridicule. This follows after the Hip-Hop artist seemingly jumped ship from his original genre to the then dominant House music sub-genre of Amapiano. A shift he made official when he went on to change his stage name from Reason to Sizwe Alakine.

From his debut Amapiano single Khanda Shisha, featuring DJ Maphorisa, it was evident that Sizwe would make a success of the shift. More so as it was alleged that he was behind Madumane’s hit verse on the 2021 summer hit single Izolo

However, that does not mean that he has not faced ridicule for his change in musical pursuits. This is as Reason has been in his feelings towards rapper AKA, following what he described as a jab to Hip-Hop artists that have jumped on the Yanos train.

While Sizwe Alakine has faced backlash over his move, it does seem that the transition has already started to pay off following his latest musical milestone.

Reason a.k.a Sizwe Alakine gets his first ever plaque

In October 2022, Sizwe Alakine released his debut Amapiano album titled Alakine World. A debut project which was described as a project which is meant to push Sizwe’s new sound which he dubbed as “rapiano.” As such, the album blends poetry, kasi rap style with Amapiano beats, whether it is sgija, private school Amapiano or contemporary hard-hitting long drum driven sounds.
The first official single from the project was the runaway surprise hit single After Tears, featuring Boohle, DJ Stokie and Tycoon. The single would mark the first single released by Sizwe Alakine or Reason to mark a monumental win for the musician.

This is as the single has now been certified gold after achieving over 1.2 million streams. The milestone marks the first ever single the rapper turned Amapiano artist to reach this feat. A feat which comes ten years after Reason, the rapper, had released his first ever single back in 2012.
As such, the milestone is vindication for Sizwe, who for the longest time in his musical career was continually dragged for still being an “upcoming artist.” More so during his relationship with the mother of two of his children Luthando “LootLove” Shosha.

During their relationship, Reason was continually dragged on social media as it was suggested that LootLove was the breadwinner in their relationship. A fact which might have contributed to the eventual demise of their relationship. That and the alleged suggestions that Reason was unfaithful.

More so when considering LootLove’s latest interview, which was with Kaya 959. The broadcaster, whose love for Hip-hop resulted in her twins being affectionately named Hip and Hop by the general public, revealed that she has fallen out of love with the genre completely.

A stance which she only took following the end of her relationship with Reason a.k.a Sizwe Alakine. Therefore, it would be hard not to associate her change of heart to her ex and how their relationship came to an end.
