On Sunday, 6 November Red Bull hosted their annual Box Cart Racing event in Bo-Kaap, Cape Town. The event was free and colorful due to the setting.

Red Bull Box Cart race started in Belgium in 2000 and since then has spread across the world, holding well over 100 events.

Participants for the South African leg, had to build a non-motorized cart for the event in order to race down a hill for their chance to take the title as the 2022 Red Bull Box Cart Champion.

The winner of the event was judged based on creativity, pre showing of the cart and the best time down the hill. The course included a pot hole that most riders were able to bypass. One driver or too may have lost a wheel and a steering wheel on the way down too. Oops!

For an event to be epic , music is needed. South African DJ champ, Gremlin had the decks covered as the official race day DJ.

The day can only be described as EPIC! On Instagram , Redbull shared winners known as the @thepotjieboytjies who took home the Red Bull Box Cart Race 2022 title 🏆. Not only did they race down with the fastest time but they did that in a potjie pot! Congratulations
