This yea's Cotton Fest boasts a fresh star-studded lineup of some of music's heavyweights from various genres. We're talking about your AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Big Zulu and Boity, who represent the Hip Hop genre. Then other acts such as Sjava who dabble in many genres. Then we can see a pretty large Amapiano presence which had people talking in disapproval.

Hosting the event is none other than Lula Odiba from YFM, MTVBase's Tshego Koke, Riky Rick's protégé Uncle Vinny and comedian who also is an Amapiano artist Robot Boii.

Fans are not mad at the hosts like they were over the 100 performers for the two nights. Before his untimely passing Riky advertised his highly anticipated music festival.

“This year we bring you the UNIVERSITY OF COTTON FEST. Our multi-layered festival campus experience includes 3 stages featuring over 100 of South Africa’s finest performers and DJs.” wrote Ricky.

Late registration is still open so cotton eaters can purchase them through WebTickets or from Pick n Pay outlets for a price ranging from R200 to R300.

With Cassper's inclusion at Cotton Fest, fans thought he might be turning in his grave because they were no longer close. But during his memorial Cassper revealed that he would have been a surprise act.

Yes, they never saw eye to eye, but this was the year they would have laid things to rest. But he had a few good things to say to him.

“Riky was one of my idols. Riky was everything I wanted to be. One of the things I never told him — I don't know if it's because of toxic masculinity or what — was the fact that I really said he was such a beautiful man ... Riky was so handsome that, even as a guy, you'd have that said that 'Hayi man! The broer is too much!' Not only was his appearance beautiful but he was a beautiful soul.”

“It's so crazy that now, everyone is cheering Riky on for the things that he did, but while he was alive he didn't get that love.”

He also spoke about the time they met which was through social media.

“Riky and I met on Facebook. The same way Riky Rick reached out to all the kids. At one point I was also just another kid from Maftown and it wasn't really easy to move in Johannesburg, but he still had the time for me and he did that for hundreds of people after me.

“I then ended up forming a relationship with him, a friendship where we would not only talk about music but we would talk about life. One of the things that I loved about Riky was how honest he was. Riky would tell you the truth,” he said.
