On his birthday, Shauwn Mkhize penned a sweet message to her son, Andile, and mentioned how much of an inspiration he is to her.
"I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. It was so easy with you, you were a sweet, calm and unbothered baby. From the moment I laid my eyes on you, I knew that I would do anything to protect, love and care for you. You instantly became my motivation and you still are my number one driving force," started off Shauwn.
Shauwn continued, "I’ve watched you grow and make mistakes. I’ve seen you at your highest and at your lowest. Through it all, I will always be your mother, hoping and praying for Gods favour, guidance and blessings upon your life. Today, as you turn a year wiser, know that I will always love you and I wish you the best as you enter this new chapter of your life.
Shauwn also joked that her labour pains were nothing like the pain she felt when her soccer team Royal AM's lost their match to Sundowns.
"P.S. on a lighter note! I think the labour pains I had with you were nothing compared to the pain I felt yesterday after our match."

Her son has been criticised for not having good soccer skills but she has defended him from trolls countless times.
“Andile was playing for AmaZulu, long before… Yes, on its development stage. He wouldn’t have entered AmaZulu if he didn’t have talent. If you look at the people that scout for people who play for AmaZulu, they only look for talent. Andile at his youngest age was already playing for AmaZulu. So he would have (qualified)...”
She reiterates that Andile does not get any special treatment from her and that he trains just like everybody else.
“You know there is one thing people don’t know about Andile, as much as he is my son, he goes to the training like every player [to be] part of the plan."
“He trains with the team and I don’t know if people do understand that Andile is the one who brought me into soccer because of his love for football.”
Even when Sithelo accused them of kidnapping her daughter Florence Mpisane, Shauwn defended Andile, “The child was never abducted and has at all times since birth been raised in the house of MaMkhize and Andile. We will defend this application, and we are confident of our case. This is a media attention-seeking stunt”.
“Why are Andile’s rights in respect to the other child not taken into account? Why should we be worried about Sithelo not having seen her child since March, but it’s fine for Andile not having access?”
“She’s bitter and jealous that Andile has found happiness elsewhere.”
