A lot has been said about Khanyi and Somizi's former Metro FM morning show, and most of it has been negative but now that we know he was required to do it, we're starting to wonder if that is why so many listeners failed to connect with the show.

During a chat on his current show, on The Fresh Breakfast Show with DJ Fresh‚ Mhlongo explained that the show came about as a business deal which required him to be considered "SABC talent" in order for him to host the SAMAs. There is an unmentioned rivalry between DSTV and SABC that sees each not wanting to give the other free publicity, nor do they enjoy sharing talent.

“Doing that radio show last year was something I regret. It was not a mistake‚ I did it because it was a business decision. I was asked to host the SAMAs last year and there were politics that I was on the ‘other side’ and they wanted to use SABC talent‚” explained Mhlongo.

Because he has always wanted to host such a large scale show, Mhlongo said he had no choice but to take the deal.

“But after that [the SAMAs] it was the biggest regret of my career. I always see the light in everything. I used it as a learning opportunity. It was preparing me for bigger things: the breakfast show‚” he added.

Oh well, thank goodness that is all behind him now.
