In the last couple of months, we've lost some of our most-loved television stars in Ntate Charles Maja and the legendary Mary Twala but to name a few. This has made us realise that it's important to celebrate our local talents while we still can.

One actress we believe deserves more recognition than she actually gets is Elizabeth Serunye, popularly known as Principal, Thobakgale on SABC 1's educational soap-drama Skeem Saam.
Before pursuing a career in acting, Elizabeth was a lead singer in her high school choir. There was a time when she worked at a supermarket to make ends meet. She got her major breakthrough role on Soul City in 2006. This was followed by her much-loved role as Mapaseka on Moferefere Lenyalong and also Rhythm City as Rose, wife to Jafta.

The 49-year-old has also starred on City Sesla and Home Affairs. Elizabeth Serunye is a mother of three, two boys and a girl.
