The first season was set against the backdrop of Beauty’s Christmas Wedding, Tumi Sello, Beauty’s older, troublesome sister’s shenanigans came to life, quite literally after ruining her sister’s well-thought-out wedding. From the inappropriate ‘drunken’, Malome Shadrack, to judgemental aunties, resentful siblings, and closely guarded family secrets, the three-part series offers up hilarious tropes that families the world over can relate to.
The first season of the show became a huge success and viewers have been waiting for this announcement. Another Netflix original show that did well is Kings of Joburg. The show was produced by The Ferguson after they inked a deal with the international streaming service.
The 6-episode series follows the exploits of the two Masire brothers, who are involved in organized crime. They are the titular ‘kings’, and the show explores themes of family structures, loyalty, crime, and African masculinity. There are also elements of the supernatural and the occult. Connie Ferguson plays a role as a mermaid in this one.
