When Refilwe heard of the passing of Akhumzi, she was just as shocked as many of us but when she later on learned that Thabani was in the same fatal accident as Akhumzi and Siya, the news completely broke her.

The actor and media personality throughout the years developed a close bond as they shared everything with each other, but their friendship was cut short after Thobani's passing on Saturday.

Refilwe recently shared a video of her interview with Thobani on etv's Hush a few years back. Refilwe reminisced about how much Thobani made her laugh during that particular interview and how he was able to lighten up people's lives with his presence.

"You were never afraid to make people laugh...a free spirit....that's why you were loved." She said.

Refilwe also shared a conversation she had with Thobani about his role on Inxeba and how concerned he was the controversy that surrounded the film.

"And then there was Inxeba..... after I went to the premier seeing you in the film.... we laughed so hard on the phone because even though we knew the controversy surrounding it ....the way you said "mtase andinokwazi ukuye ekhaya (Eastern Cape) tjini bazandibulala...& I responded nawe ke you must ask the directors to skip the country......" I had imagined your face in this conversation. it was serious but we tried to make situations less painful." [sic]

The Film and Publication Board also released a statement expressing their grief at the passing of Thobani.

"The Film and Publication Board (FPB) is deeply saddened by the news of the untimely passing of musician and actor Thobani Mseleni who played Babalo in the highly publicized film “Inxeba – The Wound. Mr. Mseleni was involved in a road carnage that robbed the South African Film and Arts industry four of its brilliant and talented young artists. “Mseleni’s sterling performance in the film cannot go unnoticed. The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living, the contributions of Thobani Mseleni, former YoTv presenter Akhumzi Jezile and former Joyous Celebration singer Siyasanga Kobese to the entertainment industry will forever remain in our hearts."

Rest In Peace Thobani.
