The Miss SA 2014 pageant takes place this weekend and, in its new revamped format, will feature live performances by some of the country's trendiest musicians.
It was last year revealed that the longstanding beauty pageant was receiving a face-lift to appeal to a younger audience, with Miss SA 2011 Melinda Bam leading this incentive in her capacity as newly appointed National Executive.
The live music line-up for the evening is set to include performances by popular trio Mi Casa, singer-songwriter Matthew Mole, and vocalist Bucie.
Comprised of singer J'Something, trumpeter Mo-T, and producer Dr. Duda, Mi Casa impressively won three SAMA awards in 2012, scarcely a year after they formed early in 2011. Their second album, 'Su Casa', was released in August last year, and they've enjoyed great success with their single 'Jika'.
Matthew Mole in 2012 won the Converse Get Out Of The Garage Competition with his song 'You And Your Crown'. He went on to release a debut album, 'The Home We Built', for which he has received critical acclaim. With his original blend of electronic folk-rock, Mole made history in July 2013 when he became the first local artist to top the iTunes album charts.
House and R&B songstress Bucie is a dynamic solo performer whose distinctive vocals have been described as "angelic". She was a member of the group Maubani and has featured in the TV soapie Rhythm City.
Miss SA 2014 takes place at Sun City on Saturday, 30 March, and will be broadcast live on DStv's Mzansi Magic from 17:30.
