From a small town in Free State called Thaba Nchu to the big screen and having one of the most watched TV shows, Tumi Morake’s journey began when she literally had to stride her way to the SABC from Yeoville, with the determination of making her mother proud. She now pens her inspirational story in a memoir.

As a television host, actress, radio personality and comedian Tumi Morake has been able to stand out as a talent in a male-dominated industry and has had to conquer a lot in order to climb up the ladder of success while many were watching.

Taking to social media, Morake uploaded an image of her showing off a hard copy of her first book titled 'And Then Mama Said…'

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Morake said that she delves deeper into racism, her car crash, her decision to leave Jacaranda FM and the pain she experienced from losing her mother:

"Revisiting hard emotions and reliving the times I was self-destructive took its toll. Telling truths I know will step on toes. Yeah, it was a tough choice but I needed to make the book...losing my mother, I don't even think I articulated it well. I lost a part of me that words still fail to articulate."
