Unathi Nkayi is overjoyed by the light at the end of the tunnel as she is back on radio after her unfortunate dismissal from Kaya 959. Ahead of her big day, Unathi took to social media to express gratitude to all those who had her back during the last three months which were difficult for her.

Unathi stated how being consistent with therapy played an intricate role in her healing process as well.

"These last three months have been crippling to say the least. I would not have made it if it wasn’t for the people in my life who actively gave me their love. Thank you to all of you. I would not have made it if I didn’t attend therapy REGULARLY," she said adding that she was off to therapy after posting that post.

Catch Unathi do her thing on Drive from 3-6pm on Star, 91.9FM.

When the announcement was made, the station released a statement which reads as follows, as quoted by TshisaLive, “I am looking forward to a fresh new format of radio that I have never before attempted. To be able to speak to my community, from my community, and for my community — priceless! Being able to speak to a multicultural community is also something that I’m truly excited about because that’s the heart of radio — the heart of Joburg,” she said.

“I’m so excited about this new chapter and definitely ready for the wild ride that is going to be the All-Star Drive.”

Her co-host Justin Toerien said, “Expect loud, funny, passionate, bold — oh and did I mention loud? We are eager to make magic on the airwaves and guarantee a good laugh...all the way home.”

Unathi not only lost out on her radio gig but she also got axed from Idols SA where judged in the singing competition.

The fitness fanatic said a few words where she bid farewell to the competition.

"You have been kind, loving and deeply invested. Truly the real energy and heartbeat of a wonderful wave of hope and dreams coming true on Idols and as you do that, you have made my dreams come true too," stated Unathi.

"To every contestant who stood in front of us. From the ones brave enough to share with us their hopes. I don’t take lightly the act of doing that for the world to see. An honour I will always hold. Thank you for trusting me as one of your judges. To those who unleashed a new level of my tears, heavily pregnant with Baby Idols garnering for Wooden Mic, thank you for the laughter and joy."

Unathi is in a much better place now!
