The funeral service of the late Thapelo Maropefela, is currently underway. Friends and family have gathered at the Anglican Church in Mohlakeng, Randfontein to celebrate his life, as they take him to his final resting place at Greenhills cemetery

The funeral service is being live streamed on YouTube. Thapelo's memorial service took place on Thursday 28 October and his friends and family paid tribute to him ahead of his funeral service today.
The young actor died on the eve of his 25th birthday. His passing was announced by his sister on social media. She said they were meant to celebrate his birthday with him this year and apologized for "what they did to him"
"Friends and Family, unfortunately my little brother, Thapelo Maropefela, left us is the early hours of today. Please give my family and I some space to process and arrange everything," she announced.
"What pains me the most is, he never spends his birthday at home. This year, he assured my mom he was gonna be home for his birthday. Unfortunately he didn't make it. He left us, on the eve of his Birthday. I just can't. I cannot!" she said in disbelief"
The thespian was well known for portraying the much loved the role of Kagiso in the SABC 1 show, The Kingdom. The show made him a household name and his career was just aboiyt to take off.
According to Daily Sun the actor's life was cut short by three security guards who allegedly assaulted him and he was then later hospitalised.
The alleged assault incident took place in Maboneng, Johannesburg where the security guards assaulted him with 'heavy objects' causing grievous bodily harm. This was reveled by his uncle who represents the Maropefela family.
“He was brutally assaulted by security guards in Maboneng. They bludgeoned him causing grievous bodily harm. He died from the wounds inflicted on him. We will miss his infectious smile and calmness in difficult situations.
His family is torn apart following his tragic passing. “We can’t believe we’ve lost such a promising young actor. At 25, he has achieved beyond our imagination. He was passionate about his talent and focused on mastering it. He loved his family and friends so much, gave the biggest hugs and the brightest smile.”
His mom recently celebrated his birthday and penned a heartfelt message to him. "25 years ago you brought happiness I never imagined possible into our lives. Today 8 grown Zimbabwean men gave me the deepest pain I ever thought possible. They hurt my child so bad! I thank God almighty for giving me these short years with you. I can’t say rest because you had so much energy! So much zeal for life! I cant! I just can’t! God will bring justice to all even though my child will never be back,"
